I am 36 and have not been to the dentist in 20 years because I can't afford it. I am currently looking for a sliding scale place because me and my 2 children live off of $712 a month. My children get free dental but not even the universities looking for people with plaque build up will take me. They say I don't have enough plaque after 20 years...please!

I swear they just want the poor to suffer so they can stuff their face everyday with food that should be going to the poor not only in this country, but around the world. It's not possible ot have rich with out poor, so we get the short end of the stick. More often then not, it's not even a poor person's fault. I hate the most that people actually think we CHOSE to be here, or messed up and are suffering for it. That's rarely the case, most of us are here because the rich don't give a damn. It's profitable for all of us to have to have insurance after insurance when middle class, and get into serious debt when we're poor. Why we put up with this, I'll never know. Also, why the **** does dentistry cost so damn much??? It's no harder then being a doctor from what I can tell, and the health of you mouth may just land your ass in intensive care in the hospital one day due to a complication of infection that spreads and enters the body. Everything health wise is important. To me, suffering and living in that till you die is a lot worse then just dying. Even in Socialist some countries they don't cover dental, like it's a cosmetic thing. HA! biggest bull shit I've heard in a while. I'd rather be poor and taken care of by taxes that I help contribute with some minimum wage job and have just enough for food, shelter and paying the bills rather then have to be unemployed, trying to get through school, not covered in ANYTHING, and struggle to pay the bills (I live with my mom, no fucking way I could make it on my own in today's economy, not that it was really all that plausible to begin with) I'm in my early 20's and have receding gums and two wisdom teeth I need checked out and people have FAR worse problems then this, it's not remotely humane to any of us. When did humans turn into such horrid beings that just accept this maltreatment to their fellow species??? I'm going to search for a place that gives free examination and consultation for new patients as we just moved and don't have a doc, dentist or anything else set up yet and I have no transportation at the moment due to a complication with my mom's job (I get paid to go to school because I'm in community, so at least I can help somewhat) I'd get a job too, but hardly anyone is hiring now-a-days and I'm caught in a catch 22. Let's hope this country shapes up and actually gets important shit taken care of for once. Either way, I still want to move as soon as I can, I do not like the direction this country has taken and seems to be headed on full speed ahead. Either way, I hope everyone here can by some miracle get what they need done in the way of health and such with out too much draw back. Good luck to you all.

I am using the dental card. By the time I get done paying it off. I will have died from old age. I hate this. I feel like Im an indentured servant to the dental industry. It might be possible to get to a dental school up state for larger dental concerns. Im looking at at least 5 grand worth of work. How did this happen. When did all of this happen. Who has this type of money to spend. Ive read of average cases costing 17 thousand dollars. Who in their right mind has that kind of money to spend. This is horrible. It is a disservice to our people. It seems de-franchising our people is a way of life today..

God is with me. I can do anything. Survive anything.. I will survive this. I just don't like it...

        Im grateful....

This is a sad story. I've written several emails, to our governor (with no reply) stating my case. I bust my ass for minimum wage, try to better my life, and the lives of my beautiful children, and am not able to get dental coverage. It cost too much, so it was a necessary budget cut. Screw you! I told her I hope every time she looks in the mirror, or at one of her photographs she realizes how lucky she is to have something as basic as dental insurance! I hope she enjoys her healthy smile while the rest of us HARD WORKING people have to suffer in pain and losing our teeth! Fuck you Chris Gregoire!

I had to quit my job at taco bell just to get medical insurance. I supposedly made too much to qualify for state insurance.

in response to Karmas Wrath...   That is very true. I have a prestigious Ph.D. from MIT, the platinum standard of the world's highest learning, yet I have been thrust into dirt poverty, because I lost all assets trying to pay for my late wife's lymphoma. Shortly after, I was diagnosed with leukemia.

I have talked to doctors, dentists, and pharmacists who agree that undocumented illegal Mexicans abuse this state's--and every states'--medical and dental services, that it is much easier for them to receive services than for American citizens.

If the politicians had any cognitive facility, and if they had any courage, they would bill the Mexican government, who doesn't want them, who send them here.

Furthermore, the U.S. should be seeking foreign aid from other countries, as this country has given many billions in aid to other countries, when they needed it. Also, the politicians should take pay cuts and should relinquish insurance coverage given to them by the tax payers.

So, as it is, the poor are expected to further lose health from the lack of dental care, which can lead to heart disease and other costly, life threatening disease.

The wealthy-powerful take great satisfaction in the sick, toothless, suffering poor, and the politicians represent only the global corporations and the very wealthy, not the average voter.
